As the burning summer is approaching, flat tire accidents happened more frequently under such high-temperature environments. According to rough statistics, 46% of highway accidents occurred due to tire problems, of which punctures accounted for 70%. Therefore, how to prevent puncture is the key to summer driving safety.
Five factors resulting in tire problems
Driving unsafety is caused by tire problems. There are mainly five factors resulting in tire problems.
1、Air pressure is too high or low.
2、Tire has been used for a long time.
3、Tire rubber surface is aging and cracking.
4、Abrasion of the tread is reaching its limitation.
5、Wheel rim is deformed.
Solutions:
1.Select the qualified tire with appropriate level and quality according to vehicle speeds. Besides, take a look at the tire manufacturing date, if exceeded, it is better to replace one.
2.Tire rubber should be heat-resistant and friction resisting butyl rubber or non-bile tires with better anti-explosion ability, made of steel ring. If the tread is damaged, please replace it as soon as possible.
3.Check tire pressure before drive a car for fear of vehicle breakdowns on the way. Front and rear wheel inflation pressure should be balanced, otherwise the unequal pressure would cause a puncture. When the car is running on expressway, the tire inflation pressure should be controlled within the normal value of 85-90%, because after a long period of running, the heat generated by friction can not be distributed in time, which will make the pressure inside the tire increase. Heat increasing and abrasion will easily cause early tire air explosion.
4.Place cars in shades after driving for a period of time in high temperature; let it cool down naturally.
5.Pay more attention when pull over, avoiding a collision or crash of outside tire against roadside. If not, the tire sidewall can be injured easily resulting in hazards which, in turn, will cause more serious problems, such as steel wire broken and steel ring deformation.
Tire “physical examination”
It is necessary to give a routine examination to your car, from head end to tail. If it is worn on both sides of the tire, it indicates that the tire pressure is inadequate for a long time. If only the middle part of the wear is worn, that shows tire pressure is too high for too long. Measure tire pressure at least once a month and make sure tire pressure maintains the standard value; If the wear is not evenly distributed, it indicates the tire is unbalanced or wheel rim is deformed. Under such condition, tire balance, wheel alignment or replacement of deformed steel ring should be carried out. If you wear occurs only in one side, it shows tires roll angle is imbalanced. To solve this, first fix the front wheel, then adjust the camber. Touch the tires and if there are uplift hard parts by touching, it signifies there may be air entering the inner tire layer. In a case like this, no matter the tire is new or old, the tire should be changed. If there is thin crack in the surface of a tire, which means the rubber of the tire has started aging, it should be replaced as well.
Tire-using notes
Besides the situation and problems mentioned above, how to avoid damaging tires, attentively or inattentively, in daily life is the key to protect tires.
1. Avoid emergency brakes or acceleration
If you frequently perform hard acceleration, emergency braking and steering, etc, it will cause tire deformation rapidly, get tires worn quickly and make tires burst easily.
2. Load within limitation
Every tire has its maximum load, it is set according to relevant regulations
by the tire manufacturer. If the tire overload, the same injury will be caused just as the one done by low air pressure.
3. Timely cooling
If the vehicle is driven on the freeway for one or more than one hour, slow down the speed to let the tire get better heat dissipation.
4. Be careful with Tire Pressure
Test the tire pressure with a barometer carefully, check tire pressure, if there is any air escaping from the tire, inflate it basing on the reference air pressure statistics: the front tire between 2.2-2.3; the rear tire 2.3. Please notice that do not inflate too much in hot summer because tire overheating after a very long-distance running will easily cause a puncture in high temperature. While in winter, the tire pressure can be a bit higher.
5. Switch tires after 10,000 km
Switch tires-the left front tire switched to the right rear tire; the right front tire switched to the left rear tire after you have run 10,000 km, which will even the abrasion degree of each tire.
